Academic background:

After graduated from the department of sociology, Nankai University, joined Rural Development Institute, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1987 and in 1998 joined the Institute of Sociology, CASS. 2007, established the Centre for Rural Environmental Social Studies.
Research covered few issues in rural China, rural enterprise, rural financial and rural governance. In the past 10 years, mostly focus on the issues on rural poverty and environment.

Current Position:

Professor and head of Centre for Rural Environmental Social Studies (CRESS), institute of Sociology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
And was invited by the Qinghai Provincial Government as a member of the consultation committee for the development of sourceland of three great rivers.

Scientific expertise and interests:

Worked in grassland of north China in the past 7 years, published few papers on the grassland degradation and the livelihood in local communities. Mainly interested in:

Communicated based natural resource management;
Adaptation to climate change in local societies;
Conservation and local governance, especial on the area with vulnerable environment.
